Hi Everyone
This month we are doing a block that one of our ladies, Evelyn, had seen at a recent class.
This Crossed Wire block is loosely based on that block made by Sheena Chapman from Cottage Quiltworks.
This is a picture of what the blocks can look like together once completed.
So for our blocks we ask that your centre be Blue. It can be any shade of Blue, light, bright, navy, they can be plain or tone-on-tone. You will need lots of scrap strips as well.
The centre should be an 8 1/2 in square.
Next take a coloured strip 8 1/2in x 2 in, sew along one side of your square using a 1/4 in seam. Press seam towards the strip.
Turn your block and next take a different colour strip 10 in x 1 1/2 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Turn again and take a different colour strip 9 1/2 in x 2 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Turn again and take a different colour strip 11 1/2 in x 1 1/2 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Again add a different colour strip 10 1/2 in x 1 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Then turn and take a different colour strip 12 in x 1 1/2 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Turn your block and add a different colour strip 11 1/2 in x 1 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
Turn your block and next take a different colour strip 12 1/2 in x 1 1/2 in strip and sew with 1/4 in seam. Press towards the strip.
So pictured above is the block after adding all the strips. Now this is where I'll get you to stop and post in to me. It should be 12 1/2 in square. To complete the quilt top I will cut them in half both horizontally and vertically at 6 1/4in.
Once the blocks have all arrived and been cut in 1/4/s they will all be mixed and matched to create new blocks that look similar to the one pictured below.
I hope you have found this helpful and simple to do.
Please send all your completed blocks to
