Hi Everyone, Caroline here.
As you can read from the title of this post we have some awesome news to share with everyone about Jan-Maree and Aussie Hero's Quilts and Laundry Bags.
Jan-Maree has struggled with whether or not to announce that she has been nominated but she felt that she should share it as she feels that the nomination is as much for the rest of the quilters as for herself.
The lovely Joan put together this information on the Pride of Australia medal and how it all works.

The Pride of Australia Medal is one of News Corp Australia’s most important
community endeavours – recognising and rewarding our community’s most
outstanding members.
The genesis of the Pride of Australia Medal came from the New York Post,
who in the wake of the September 11 attacks, launched the Liberty Medal to
honour their city’s police officers and fire fighters. The Pride of Australia
Medal is borne of the same ideal – to show that there is no greater measure of
a society’s strength than its ability to recognise, learn from and reward its
true heroes.
The big news for Aussie Hero Quilts is that our own Jan Maree Ball has
been nominated for the medal in the Community Spirit category.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
MEDAL
To recognise an individual or a group whose selfless, tireless and
largely unacknowledged actions have enriched the lives of those around them in
their community.
So what happens now?
A panel of
judges will consider the nomination in July and should Jan Maree be selected as
a state finalist checks will take place and things will proceed to the State
finals. All state winners will be eligible to win the National Medal in their
category at a gala dinner at the State Theatre in Sydney on Friday, November 15th.
You will be
kept up to date as things proceed, meanwhile please join us in wishing Jan
Maree all the best, if anyone deserves it is she.
Happy Stitching
Caroline & Joan
