Greetings from lovely Canberra.
I am sitting in Poppy's waiting for my first appointment. I got here early so that I could finish this blog post before my day begins... and hopefully catch up on a few emails as well. If you have emailed me and I have not come back to you please be patient. I may have to wait til I get back home later tonight.
Fingers crossed for everyone this hot weekend. Here's hoping that the forecast power outages are not too frequent or long lasting. I will be reminding myself of our troops who are putting up with much worse conditions than us and that will stop me from complaining too much.
This has been a great week. Lots of lovely quilts and laundry bags!
Some of you will know our very special CPO quilter who made her presence felt at our dinner last year, bidding against a Brigaidier and a Major General for some of our prizes!! We she has headed back over on deployment.
For those who do not know here, she returned from deployment to Kabul about 12 months ago and very quickly got involved with us after having received her own quilts and laundry bag whilst deployed. She was one of the team that helped to get Aussie Hero back up and running, helping out at Government House and the Stitches and Craft Fair. She has sewn quilts and laundry bags and done more.
You would think that she would have a good understanding of how much what we do means to the troops. I mean, she had been there. She had received her own quilt and laundry bag. Well this week I had a message from her and she said in part....
"JM your ladies seriously don't have any idea how much this does for moral! It has even surprised me!"
So please take heart. If you have sent off a quilt or a laundry bag and not heard back just know that what you are doing IS making a difference and it IS appreciated.
Now sit back and enjoy the show and tell.
So far for 2017 we have sent off 426 laundry bags
which brings us to a total of 13548 since we started...
and...
We have also sent 191 quilts
bringing our total since we started to over 6846 quilts
Arthur created the quilt top, I added the stars and Bridget quilted it.
