Hi all,
With the dinner less than three weeks away I thought it was a good time to introduce our Board Members to you. I am hoping that you will say hello to them on the night of the dinner so that they can meet lots of our volunteers whose efforts they are supporting.
First up we have Air Marshal Gavin Neil "Leo" Davies, AO, CSC. Leo humbly describes himself as a retired Air Force Officer, which is true, but he was actually the Chief of Air Force until July 2019. Leo is now the Chairman of our Board.
Leo Davies is a retired Air Force officer and the Chairman
of our board. Leo, a recipient of a quilt himself, has deployed and seen first
hand the positive impact that AHQs can have on our men and women in uniform.
Leo lives in Canberra and has maintained contacts with Defence as one of our
avenues to promote our work.
Guy, Michelle and Yarran, whose photos and "blurbs" appear below make up the rest of our Board and we are very lucky to have each one of them. I have included the photos and their "blurbs" which appear on our Website so you can get to know them a little and will hopefully recognise them on the night of the dinner.
Guy Blackburn:
Guy is a current serving Navy Officer. He has extensive experience as a non executive director in various not for profit organisations. Guy joined Aussie Hero Quilts as a Non Executive Director to give back to AHQ after seeing the positive effect everyone’s efforts have had on the Defence community.
Michelle Fulton:
Michelle Fulton joined the Aussie Hero Board in 2020 first as Company Secretary and later as a director. She brings with her a wealth of experience in corporate governance and program delivery and has been credited for developing strategic partnerships and collaborations and driving objectives to deliver meaningful outcomes. Michelle is focused on shaping a strong and collaborative Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry Bags that will operate well into the future.
Yarran McGeachie:
Yarran served for 14 years as a soldier in the Army and has seen the impact of AHQ's work first-hand as a recipient, and the positive effects that receiving an AHQ laundry bag or quilt has for deployed Defence members. Yarran brings his experience and knowledge from working within professional services and serving as vice president for an ex-service organisation to the AHQ board, and is focused on giving back to AHQ by contributing to its future.
Please do take the time to say hello to all of them if you get the chance.
Till next time... keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
Jan-Maree xx
