Plans for the Annual Thank You Weekend .......

Hey All

Just a reminder... the planning for the Aussie Hero Quilts Annual Thank You Weekend are coming along.  We still don't have all the events locked in yet, but we are getting closer.

I can't thank the planning committee enough for all their work.

Friday 1st November

I should be able to confirm the details of the Friday afternoon very soon. I promise.

The Quilter's Gathering

On the evening of Friday the 1st of November we will meet at the Sergeants Mess at the Royal Military College at Duntroon for a Quilters Gathering.

I am getting very excited about introducing you all to our very special guest speaker, Jenny Bowker.  I also have a couple of other people in mind to speak on the Friday night and one thing I forgot to mention before is this is the night to bring along your quilts for Show and Tell.   This can be an Aussie Hero Quilt or one you have made for another purpose.  This is your chance to share a bit about your own quilting journey so start thinking about what you want to bring.

Again, partners and friends are very welcome.

Saturday 2nd November

Newbies Brunch

Just a reminder that I really enjoy meeting those of you who sew for us and if I have not et you before the best time to sit and have a chat with me is at the Newbies Brunch when you are invited to have breakfast with me at a venue to be decided depending on the numbers of interested people.  Again, partners are also welcome to join us.

Quilt Shop Bus Tour and Lunch

We are planning something new for the Saturday this year.  Assuming we there are enough people interested we are looking at arranging a bus tour that will take in three quilt shops in Canberra and a café for lunch.   We need a minimum of 13 people to run this tour and the price is significantly less if we get up to 24 so please do give us an indication if you are interested in this.

Now is the time to email Gail grmac@bigpond.net.au if you are interested in coming.

The Annual Thank You Dinner

This year the dinner will be held at Old Parliament House commencing at 1830 (630pm) and will end at 2230 (1030pm).  You will be served nibbles on arrival and then a sit down dinner. .
The Lancer Band is confirmed and we have a beautiful quilt to raffle.  One of the auction quilts is completed and looks gorgeous.

We are still working hard on the ticket prices but I more and more confident that the price will no more than $75.

Sunday 4th of November

Again we will round out the weekend with a brunch for those who wish to attend at Poppy's Cafe at the Australian War Memorial and will commence at 9am.
