An Invitation from the Commanding Officer to Tour HMAS Newcastle......

Time is flying by. I am republishing this post from 1 November.  

  I need to notify the ship of those who would like to join us for a tour of HMAS Newcastle as per the invitation below from the Commanding Officer as per below.

Dear Jan-Maree 

In appreciation of the efforts that you and your team of quilters have put together for those onboard HMAS Newcastle, I would like to invite you to join me for a ships tour in December. It would be our pleasure to host you and show you what life onboard is like on a warship whilst providing you the opportunity to also meet some of the people that you have supported.

If you are able to attend on the date, could you please indicate your availability and preferred time so that arrangements can be made to gain you and your team access to the Naval base and the ship.

 I am not comfortable with providing all the details on this page so Joy will let you know what date the tour will be on.   I am not yet sure what time the tour will be but it is safe to assume it will be sometime between the hours of 10am and 3pm.  

On the day you will need to make your own way to the Garden Island Gangway via public transport as there is very limited parking.  

Once at the Gangway you will need to provide photo ID in order to be signed into the base. 

You do not need to have made a quilt/laundry bag for this current deployment of HMAS Newcastle but preference will be given to those that HAVE sewn for HMAS Newcastle and then to those that have sewn for us in recent months.   Partners are welcome to attend as well as they are often enablers and supporters of  your Aussie Hero projects. 

Please respond no later than November 20.
