An Aussie Hero Quilter on Display...... Shirley Drayton

We have so many talented quilters sewing for Aussie Heroes and one of them currently has a quilt show on. Why not get along and support her and check out her awesome work.... and perhaps be inspired for your next Aussie Hero Quilt.....

Geelong Theatre

Shirley derives inspiration from her extended family, respect for those who fought for the freedom of others, the beauty of land, sea and sky, plus rustic old buildings.
With fabric, dyes and stitch Shirley tries to portray the celebration of family stories and memories plus the beauty of nature.  She explores the tactile nature of fabrics, the range of textures and colours and enhances her work with thread. More recently Shirley is incorporating paint, making her work more mixed media.
Shirley enjoys the finished product as well as the process of creating.  Finding a sense of achievement, of having been challenged and enjoyment in the work as an art piece. This is enhanced by the pleasure others receive from viewing or receiving her work.
