Happy Wednesday Friends!

There are, as always, some awesome letters which definitely pull at the heart strings.
Grab a cuppa or cool drink, sit back and relax while you soak up some well-deserved gratitude!

Hello Bridget R,

I love the design of the quilt you so beautifully created especially for me. It has arrived safely and I have attached a photo of it placed upon my bed aboard HMAS Brisbane.

Regards,

Good Afternoon Sue N,

I just wanted to email to say thank you for my beautiful quilt!

I love that the blue banded bee is front and centre of it along with all of the cute Australian critters.

I have placed it along side where I keep all my honors & awards and it really brightens the area up πŸ˜Š

Thank you so much again for all of your time and careful consideration of the fabric for my quilt, it will one day be quite the heirloom.

Kind Regards,

Hi Clarissa L,

Just a quick note to say that I received my laundry bag and I love it!! Thank you! As you said in your letter, the packages we receive whilst on deployment make the sometimes repetitive days a bit easy and helps us to remember that we are thought of back home.

A little about me.  I was born and raised in Geraldton, Western Australia (hence the West Coast Eagles theme!) and am the daughter of a professional Cray Fisherman (hence the Navy!).  I have an older brother and older sister, and between them they have six kids so it’s always busy in our houses. There is no previous history of military service in my family. I joined the Navy in 2016. This is my first overseas deployment.

Anyway, again thank you for the time you take to make the bags and quilts.  I know everyone on board is excited when they know that the parcel they are opening is one from the great people at Aussie Hero Quilts!!!!

Regards,

Hi Sue N,

I'm one very very lucky recipient of AHQ to receive the opportunity for the 15yrs of service quilt.
I received a beautiful creation of love on Thursday, amazing timing with the 125yrs Navy celebrations today.   There's not enough words for my gratitude of all the dedication creating a beautiful momento, one which will be truly treasured, not only by myself yet also my hubby and 2 sons (who are currently serving Navy).

I'm a crafter in many avenues, quilting is on my agenda.  I inherited my mum's supplies when she passed 5 years ago. I'm slowly venturing into teaching myself quilting for Mum had a beautiful collection of materials, supplies etc. Lots of Youtube & reading has past so I definitely need to give it a go to honour her. I can hear mum in my ear 'start easy' yet she knows I never have, for if I make something I prefer it to be useful, thus I throw myself into the deep end πŸ˜…

Sue you totally nailed the quilt, I truly thought I gave far too much information, yet had no expectation, simply thankful for the opportunity. I actually learnt to play on a baby grand piano and the angel stitching is what Mum use to do with some of her projects, making this quilt more special than you would have known when creating it.  The extra additions in the package were also a wonderful surprise, it was the gift that kept giving, reminding me when receiving mail at sea. πŸ˜Š

Congratulations to yourself and the team for 15 years, delivering warmth and much love through your talents. After my own experience, I can only imagine how others feel especially when they receive them on deployment.  One of our sons received a quilt last year after tracking him down between ships.  Our 2nd son, is deploying soon, he changed branch a few years ago to helos and only deploys to ships as required.

May you have a wonderful weekend with family.
Warm regards

Cheers Catherine D

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.  Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
