Grati-Wednesday 11th March 2026

Happy Wednesday Friends!

We are always amazed at how our quilts, laundry bags and now our stay mats are received.
There are some awesome letters which definitely pull at the heart strings.
Grab a cuppa or cool drink, sit back and relax while you soak up some well-deserved gratitude!

Dear Heather B,

Thank you so much for Billy’s stay mat.
Your kindness and generosity means a lot. We have been doing some training at home in preparation for taking him out with me.
His Mat is a great way for me to put him in a place where he is safe and can see me. It also helps keep his fur on the Mat!!!

Thank you,

Good Afternoon Angela T,

I am the oldest of three boys. I was born in NSW.  I enlisted into the Australian Army in 2012.

A little history of where I have been posted to : Darwin, Townsville, back to Darwin and long Term Schooling in Brisbane.

I have received one of your laundry bags (Lion King) and would like to take the time to thank you for your support to myself and serving members of the ADF.

I received my laundry bag whilst serving as a Marine Technician deployed on a Navy ship. We actually called into Eden, NSW during our transit from Hobart to Sydney.  For me this sentimental now as you have made this a memory and your personal message knowing you were originally from Eden, NSW. I acknowledge your service and contribution to Twin Towns Service Club within the local community of Tweed Heads/Coolangatta region.  I have great memories participating in ANZAC Day Ceremonies.

A little about my family, we moved to Brisbane at the start of 2026. My Spouse and I have two daughters, 6 years of age and 3 Years of age. My parents are now retired and still live in our family home.

Kind regards,

Good Morning Stephanie F,

I am writing to say a huge thank you for the Quilt that you made for me, I think it took a while to find its way to me as I have now moved on from where it was posted. The quilt I suspect has been chasing me around and I took carriage on Friday.

I must say it is a work of art, and so personal to me for which I am so grateful for, including my initials.

My family are certainly very jealous of this blanket and I am looking forward to cooler nights where it will become invaluable whilst I am lounging on the sofa.

I also want to thank you for all of your work at Aussie Hero Quilts, as I can personally vouch that these quilts are warmly received and when away from home for months at a time make for a personal item that we cherish.

Once again very many thanks for your dedication and time on my quilt.

Kind Regards

Good Morning Lyn R,

I had the pleasure of receiving your quilt that you’ve spent a lot of hard work making.

Everyone I’ve shown on board is very jealous of the excellent craftsmanship that has gone into it, and it’s one of the best quilts I have ever seen made.

I really appreciate you for going all out on this quilt and also the hand written letter, the shack you spend you’re summer in sounds amazing.

I’ve been in the Navy for 7 years now and have done multiple deployments overseas serving on board HMAS Sydney and HMAS Brisbane.

There’s a running joke on board that my heart is split between the two ships I’ve served on hence the request for this quilt.

Thank you so much again for the quilt.

Presentations by Bel P
I was lucky enough to not only present a quilt but also do a presentation on Aussie Hero Quilts to a class of graduating Navy Officers at the end of last year. The recipient had been a Leading Seaman in the Navy band when he put in his request. He then let us know he was changing over to an officer so he could have a new career.  That meant I was able to deliver his quilt by hand rather than sending it as he was training in my "neck of the woods"!
It was quite apt that the name of the patterned used for his quilt was called Hip Hop. He absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to take it with him when he next went to sea.

I was also able to present a quilt on Monday to a member of a helicopter flight who had been on HMAS Brisbane. The flight returned to Nowra when Brisbane sailed back into Sydney at the start of December last year. Unfortunately mobiles/cameras are not allowed in the area I caught up with the recipient so I was unable to get a photo with her but I have put a picture below of the quilt.
She absolutely loved it quilt and stopped quite a few of her collegues to show them.  She couldn't wait to use it!

Cheers Catherine D

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.  Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
