Welcome to the new volunteers that saw the Better Homes and Gardens
program and want to get involved. Great
to have you along. If you look at the
list and need help choosing please feel free to let me know. I am more than
happy to give you some advice and find a request that you will be comfortable
with doing.
Everyone else, I hope this finds you all well and coping with the restrictions
we are all living with to keep us safe from COVID-19. I think we have been very
fortunate to have good leadership in Australia that has kept us in a much better
position than so many other countries. We are indeed looking like the lucky
country.
We are also fortunate to have our ADF members available to be deployed
to carry out a myriad of tasks that need to be conducted and we are going to do
our bit by letting them know that their services are appreciated.
Operation COVID-19 Assist Laundry Bags
You will see I am calling for laundry bags for those ADF members who are
part of Operation COVID-19 Assist. We can’t
forget our deployed folks but hopefully we can look after these guys and girls
as well.
Spare a thought also for the crew of HMAS Toowoomba. They are safe and sound on board with no cases
of COVID-19 but in order to stay that way, and also because so many countries
have closed their borders, they have been confined to their ship for some time
and no change in the foreseeable future.
Crew members are commenting that the one thing they are looking forward to
is their mail and that is where we are helping them, a lot!
Priority Quilts
Requests 2 to 12 inclusive are our priority quilts. They need to be in
the mail no later than the end of May. These include the last of the HMAS
Toowoomba requests. It would be great if you could take one of these ones up
this week. Thank you!
The post by date for all items on this list is 1 June please. If you
cannot make that date please let me know.

RISKS WHATSOEVER TO CONTINUE SEWING FOR US. I DON’T WANT THAT AND THE MEN AND

PLEASE note the date and let me know if you have any problems getting
your quilt/LB away on time. In fact, if you are going to be late posting it
please let me know BEFORE you post it. Also, if this time frame is too
tight for you, there are options, just email me to discuss.

YOU CANNOT GET TO THE POST OFFICE
If you cannot get to the Post Office and do not have someone who can go
for you, then I still encourage you to keep sewing. You never know,
there may be someone in your area who can pick up your mail from your front
door (no contact) and deliver it to the PO for you. We can at least try
that. LET ME KNOW

COVID-19
volunteers - there are hundreds of ADF members around the country who are
duty as part of COVID-19 Assist. We are going to try and make enough laundry
bags to let them know that we appreciate their service, now more than
ever. If you would like to jump on
board and make some of these bags then please let me know. You will be given
an address to post your laundry bag/s to but you will have to cover the cost
of postage as postage will not be free. The cheapest way to post will be via
pre-paid satchel. Please advise me how
many bags you would like to make so that I can make sure that we send the
number of bags requested and no extras. We need to be organised about this.
