For our RAAF and ex-RAAF readers......

Can you help???

The 5000 Poppies project is looking for assistance to create 60 000 poppies for a display at the Australian War Memorial on  Remembrance Day 2018.

Specifically, they seek gold RAAF buttons that are no longer needed by members and that are suitable for sewing into a poppy.  Image attached shows the concept. In place of standard buttons, these buttons will take centre place to commemorate Air Force lives lost during the First World War.

So if anyone has any spare buttons, or knows of some one that has left the Forces and no longer has a use for their spare buttons, please send them to:

SQNLDR Bruce Chalmers
Air Force Headquarters
R1-6-C033
Russell Drive
Russell ACT 2600

They would like to have buttons by the middle of Jun to start using them to create the 60 000 poppies by 11 Nov.

The 5000 Poppies website https://5000poppies.wordpress.com/ has a full story on the project.

Till next time... keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
