Weekly Dispatches 4 March 16

Another bumper week and another bumper crop.

I had a great day yesterday at the Stitches and Craft Show. LOVE the new Simply 16 that Caroline was demonstrating on the Handi Quilter booth. For those who don't know, Caroline is one of the very first ladies to join Aussie Heroes going way back to Feb 2012. We only started in January of that year.  She had the brain wave of using some of our quilt tops as practice quilts for anyone who wants to have a go using their new machine at the show and it went really well.  The quilt is looking fabulous so far.

I went along to support Caroline and to tell the Aussie Hero story whenever the opportunity presented itself.  I was not even remotely interested in getting a quilting machine but........ I have seen the light.  Most quilting frames are quite large and need a room of their own. This one is quite compact and would be just perfect for quilting Aussie Hero Quilts.   We could put it to such good use.  Pity they cost $11000.  Ahhh well a girl can dream!

Thanks to Handi Quilter for allowing me to come along and spread the word a little more.   I met the mother-in-law of one recent recipient, and family members of others.  Found another longarm quilter who is happy to quilt for us!  YAY!  A couple of schools are interested, a couple of groups migt get involved and possibly a couple of speaking engagements.

And I have already had one lady who came and spoke to me put her name down to do a quilt.

Big thanks again to the folds from Handi-Quilter.

So far for 2016 we have sent off 424 laundry bags

which brings us to a total of  8242 since we started...

and...

We have also sent 281 quilts

bringing our total since we started to over 5525 quilts
