Tomorrow is Australia Day.
Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi Oi Oi!
My family does not celebrate the day in any particular way. In fact, for most of the last 19 Australia Days my husband has been overseas. I have always made a point of making ANZACs and lammingtons every Australia Day. This year my husband is home so I have decided to have a few friends over for Brunch with Aussie themed food.
How will you celebrate Australia Day?
If you are in Sydney there are two smallish events you might like to know about...
Did you know that every Australia Day at the Castlebrook Cemetary small Aussie flags are placed on the graves as those belonging to veterans. If you are interested it starts at 630am and goes til about 830am.
If you want more information contact the Castle Hill RSL Sub Branch here
Another event I heard about is held in the city. If you are in there you might want to pop along and pay your respects.
Each year on Australia Day there is a flag raising ceremony at the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Monument which is in the plaza area at the intersection of Dixon and Liverpools Streets, Haymarket.
In honour of Australia Day I thought I would re-run some of the awesome Aussie themed quilts and laundry bags that have been made over the years....
What an awesome selection of Aussie quilts and laundry bags....and but a few of the gorgeous Aussie themed quilts that have been made and sent!
....
Those of you on Facebook will have seen this but for the non-facebookers this is our Australia Day Cover photo on the Aussie Heroes page.
Time is running out to get into the Australia War Memorial to see the Centenary Quilt on display. If you remember army Mum, Sandy flew into Canberra for 24 hours to just to go with me to see the Centenary Quilt. Well recently her friend Donna went to see it and sent in a photo.
Wendy F also made the trek to Canberra to see it as well.
I reckon we have three weeks left to go and see it. Make sure you don't miss out.
Till next time.................Hope you all have a great Australia Day!
