Weekly Dispatches 21 August 2015

G'day all.  I hope you all have something nice planned for the weekend. I will be at Penrith for our sewing day tomorrow. I think it will be a small group this month with holidays and weddings and other family events clashing with the date but we will make the most of it anyway.  Please feel free to join us if you are free. Just email or PM me for details.

If you are not on Facebook you will have missed out on seeing the Video that Rear Admiral Jones made thanking those that support the troops during their deployments. I am delighted to say that we rated a mention which was a lovely surprise.  You can view it here if you have not already seen it.

I have just come back from Canberra.  Among other things I was the guest speaker for the Soroptimist Club of Canberra on Tuesday night and they were kind enough to donate three Spotlight vouchers which I will ensure are put to good use.  I also had lunch at ADFA with the chaplain who was on HMAS Darwin when they deployed last year and managed to catch up with the third year son of one of our quilters and a young first year friend of mine.

Now I am home and getting caught up as well as getting ready for next week's adventure.  This time next week I will be in Brisbane, well Rosewood specifically, getting ready to talk about Aussie Heroes on the Friday night and the quilt show on the weekend.  Don't forget to let me know if you are planning to come along. It would be great to see you if you can make it.  A number of people have promised to come and say hello and I am really looking forward to that.  If you need the details of the show just check them out here.

Some gorgeous quilts and laundry bags have headed off again this week.  Enjoy the show and tell...

1027 quilts and 1457 laundry bags for 2015.

4609 quilts and  6874 laundry bags in total.

These blocks were sewn and put together by the ladies from Penrith plus Max and Kay, our circus teacher who joined us a few times recently. It was then quilted by Carol.

The blocks for this one were put together by Marie W and again the quilt was quilted by Carol.

  1. Many thanks to Lynn and Debbie who made the Air Force quilt (29) for my son. It will become a family heirloom to treasure.
