We are going to do something a little different today and have decided that it’s time again to do something a bit special. We currently have an opportunity to add to our list  and around our lovely nation we have amazing volunteers who love to sew for Aussie Heroes.

If you are a serving fulltime or reservist member in a medic or health professional role, or you know someone who is, then here is the deal.

You need to EMAIL (no messages or texts please) on friendsofAHQ@gmail.com with Essential details to include Name, Rank, number of years served, PMKEYS, Postal address and your preferences. Please bear in mind that your quilt will be designed and made by a volunteer and they are limited to what they have access to, especially given the restrictions imposed on us by COVID-19. We cannot guarantee you will receive exactly what you request but they will do their best. 

This offer is open indefinitely and we will advise when it is closed.  We want to allow enough time for all our health / medical personnel to see it and respond.

If you have received a personalised quilt during a previous deployment then you will not be eligible to receive a quilt with this offer however, we are very pleased to offer a new personalised laundry bag to all our medical personnel to convey our current message of thanks for your service in these uncertain times.

We are hopeful that this will give us the chance to recognise some of those who, using their training, wisdom, skill, empathy and patience, are caring for others. This offer is simply our opportunity to recognise the valued contribution of this group of ADF personnel and so they know their service counts as well. We have been creating laundry bags for those on OP Covid Assist duty and now wish to also acknowledge our medics and health professionals involved with the Covid Assist task and for their care and treatment of others at all times.

Lastly, whoever is requesting a quilt will have to cover the cost of postage ($25 for a quilt / $10 for a laundry bag) as we cannot ask the volunteer to cover those costs as well as their time and materials. The funds will need to be deposited into the Aussie Hero Bank Account and a receipt forwarded to Aussie Heroes by email before a quilt /laundry bag is constructed. Bank details etc will be forwarded via email once the request has been received and accepted. 

This offer does not have an end date but we will advise via another post on Facebook when the offer is closed if need be.

Special offer of personalised quilts for Vietnam veterans

 Calling our Vietnam veterans and those who support them. Can we sew for you? 

There are three main reasons Jan-Maree Ball felt the need to do something to give back to our defence force. She says “I started Aussie Heroes for a number of reasons – I hated the way our Vietnam Veterans were treated.  That can never be allowed to happen again.  I heard of an Aussie soldier given a quilt by the Americans in Germany and was ashamed that there was not an Aussie Quilt for him. Finally, I just felt that we, the Aussie public, needed a way to say thank you to our Defence members for their service". This our volunteers do on a daily basis by way of creating quilts and laundry bags but now it’s time we especially salute our Vietnam vets.

 

We currently have an opportunity to add to our list at the moment and around our lovely nation we have amazing volunteers who love to sew for Aussie Heroes. This is a special offer, open only ‘til 6pm (Sydney time) Sunday 28^th March but will be capped at 50 requests, whichever is sooner.

 

If you served our country and are a Vietnam veteran, or you know someone who was, then here is the deal. You have until 6pm Sunday night 28^th March to request a personalised Aussie Hero quilt for yourself or for someone you know. Past quilt recipients NOT eligible.

A special Quilt offer to acknowledge your service!    

One of the particularly lovely aspects of the special quilt offers is hearing from our amazing AHQ volunteers who often mention how privileged they are to have the opportunity to create these special quilts. The design preferences submitted often reflect the history of service or simply interests which have inspired and sustained someone through their service. We are indeed honoured to create a work of the heart to say "Thank you". Don't be shy - if you've not had the opportunity to deploy or receive a quilt prior please consider submitting a request. We are delighted to sew for you. 

Capped at 50 requests we will be very pleased to hear from you if you are or have been a serving member who has completed 20+ years of service.  Here is the deal. 15 years or more of ADF service? Here’s our Special Quilt offer to acknowledge your service!

We have been receiving some lovely responses from ADF members who are on Operation COVID Assist and a couple of them, from members who have been in the military for many years, have struck a special chord. They have either seen friends and colleagues receive quilts and bags and have loved them or they have only found out about us through their current C19 deployment and so receiving an AHQ parcel at this time has really meant a lot to them.

We have decided that it’s time again to do something a bit special. We currently have an opportunity to add to our list at the moment and around our lovely nation we have amazing volunteers who love to sew for Aussie Heroes. This is a special offer, open only ‘til 6pm (Sydney time) tomorrow night but will be capped at 50 requests, whichever is sooner.

If you are or have been a serving member who has completed 15 years of service, or you know someone who has, then here is the deal. You have until 6pm tomorrow night to request a personalised Aussie Hero quilt for yourself or for someone you know. The recipient must have served 15 years or more and does not need to be deployed, or still serving at the time of the request.  Previous AHQ recipients are not eligible for this offer.

We are hopeful that this will give us the chance to recognise some of those who have not had the chance to deploy or because they have not served on a deployment which meets the criteria to receive an Aussie Heroes quilt. Nonetheless, they need to know their service counts as well. The recipient does not have to be currently serving.
