Dear Ann S,

Thank you for your beautiful letter and for the time, care and attention to detail you put into making my laundry bag. It means a great deal to know that people like you are out there supporting us. Sapphire (my 3у old Border Collie) sends her thanks as well.

I was especially touched by your stories referencing your father's service in the Australian Defence Force during WWII and the positive attitude he passed on to your family. It is clear that he left a mark, not just through his time in uniform but also through the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Reading about the way your family continues to serve was inspiring -  It reminds me that service takes many forms, and all of them are important and make a difference.

Ann, please accept my small token of thanks and know that your support through Aussie Hero Quilts is greatly appreciated by our serving sailors, soldiers and aviators.

With gratitude and best wishes

Hi Ruth S, Joy H and Joan B,

My quilt and laundry bag have arrived.

Thanks for all the support of your great organisation.

Dear Ruth,

Please forgive my tardiness. I don't know where the years have gone!

I was a lucky recipient of a quilt and a laundry bag whilst I was on deployment in 2017. It was a very busy 8 months so I had to travel all over the region, I don't think I had more than 2 weeks in one location. It was extremely special to come "Home" and have my cosy room looking very welcoming thank to your quilt!

I have since left the full time Army and am now working in other roles. Life feels settled now.

I met a kind and adorable man in 2018 and we are now celebrating 2 years of marriage. I found your note when I was moving into our newly purchased "forever" home.

Thanks again for the beautiful quilt you made. I adore it so much and know it will be a treasured heirloom.

Best wishes...

Hey Joy H,

I hope this email finds you well. I just wanted to let you know I have received the quilt you made. I love it very much and appreciate the time you took to make it and the letter you sent as well.

I will try it out as a cubby sometime as your grandchildren recommended!

Kind regards,

***

Good afternoon Ruth S,

I just wanted to reach out and say a massive thank you for the amazing laundry bag! The fabric and designs with camels, chilli’s and cacti is exactly what I was after and made my day!

Thank you for all that you do to support the ADF, we really appreciate the many hours put into making these amazing designs.

All the best,

***

Dear Margaret B,

Thank you for the beautiful laundry bag you thoughtfully created personally for me. It was lovely to meet you and at the ADFA Chaplaincy Course in July. It was lovely to learn of your life on the farm. It sounds like you keep very busy in your retirement.

It is wonderful to learn about what Aussie Hero Quilts do to support our Defence members and make them feel seen and valued given the unseen sacrifices they make.

A little about me, I am a single mum with two teenage sons. I came to chaplaincy as a registered counsellor and feel incredibly privileged to be in a position to serve those who serve. My oldest son is studying nursing and my youngest son joins the Army next year. The next chapter looks quite different to what we expected but I trust we are answering what we have each been called to do.

Thank you again for your time and thoughtfulness. I wish you and your family blessings of health and love.

Best wishes,

Good Morning Bev U,

I have just returned from overseas, and waiting for me was a lovely quilt made by yourself.

After a very intense operational period and a long time away from family and friends, it was a real joy to open your parcel and read your letter. I truly appreciate the effort you put into this. It will be making its way onto the ship to go onto my rack (bed), where it will hopefully live for many years. When you see the same grey ship walls all day every day, any amount colour or beauty in your environment is a massive boost to morale and mental wellbeing. Aussie Hero Quilts does invaluable work in this regard.

Thank you again, and kindest regards,

***
Good afternoon Beverly U,

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but I just found it very overwhelming leaving the service and have taken some time for myself.

I wanted to sincerely thank you for creating the beautiful quilt I was presented with. The time, effort and care you put into it is very evident and it holds a very special place for me.

Knowing that you not only have such a talent, but also strong ties to service with your own family makes this gift even more meaningful.

It's wonderful to hear that making these quilts brings you happiness, as receiving one certainly brings deep gratitude and comfort.

Regards,
***

Cheers Catherine D

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.  Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
