Happy Tuesday Friends!

For those who love Christmas its now exactly six months away!

We have another lot of beautiful messages from far and wide and some awesome images, so grab a cuppa, sit back and relax while you soak up some well deserved gratitude.

Dear Bridget,

Last week I (pictured right) was presented with my quilt and laundry bag.

Thank you for your lovely work. I retired from the regular Army after 33 years in February and this is a key memento.  You truly do amazing work, as do all the makers. Thank you for your ongoing support to ADF members.

God Bless,

...

Good afternoon Emma G,

I have recently received the laundry bag you have so generously made for me and wish to pass my most sincere gratitude at the time, effort and skill you have invested into it, and all of the other great works I see you have made in your letter to me.

I joined the RAN in 2017 as a Maritime Warfare Officer and have always seen the great work Aussie Hero Quilts does in the works received by my ship mates while I was a trainee officer.

I am currently serving on HMAS Albany, based out of Darwin. The ship is assigned to OP Resolute and have spent a lot of my time at sea patrolling the Northern waters of Australia and doing constabulary boardings against illegal fishing. Before this I had served in Frigates based in Perth, WA. Here I spent time doing workups and training with ships coming out of maintenance before a short notice assignment of my ship, HMAS Perth, to OP Resolute. After which I sailed in Perth on a Regional Presence Deployment, traveling overseas and participating in several different exercises.

After 7 years in the Navy and years at sea, I am ecstatic to finally have my own AHQ Laundry bag like I had seen everyone else with. I am certain it will serve me well in the rest of my career as I sail the seas, always with a piece of the great work you and the rest of the amazing people at AHQ create.

Once again, my greatest thanks for the works you have created and to the rest of the AHQ team, thank you for the works you have created for the others in my crew.

Regards,

Good morning Pennie,

I’m writing to express my appreciation for the quilt that was made for me. As you can see from the photo below, I have received it and I’ve started using it while I am away. I could not be happier with how it turned out, and I’m very appreciative of the work that must’ve gone into making it. It is very comforting to know that people in Australia care so much while we’re deployed.

I am from Adelaide originally and moved away, when was 19 when I joined the Army. I am a big Port Adelaide supporter! It’s great that you went to your first game and it was a memorable experience!

Thanks again for the quilt!

Kind regards,

Dear Sheena B,

Thank you so much for the amazing quilt that you crafted for me, I received the quilt in the mail just as I finished post deployment leave.

We deployed to the Solomon islands on a peacekeeping mission to help with the 2024 elections. During our time there we taught basic first aid to the local police force, also taught first aid to out reach communities on the island, we conducted patrols and felt like a celebrity because of much the locals love the Australian Army, we also worked along side the Australian Fed Police.

We got home at the end of May and I have just been getting back into physical training and hanging out with friends. We go rock climbing at a place around the corner from base called 9 degrees, also a bit of fishing and going to the pub. We are still apart of the ready combat team which means we can't leave the area. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have some time off to go to Victoria and see my family - my sister who's 16 , my brother who's 12 and my Mum who has just turned 50. Also hoping to go overseas traveling over Christmas to get out and see the world.

Thank You heaps,
...

Good Evening Kristen (Bindy)O,

Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say thank you very much from the quilt. I had been feeling a bit out of sorts post this deployment(this was third and with a young family this time). It was a lovely acknowledgement that my sacrifices are appreciated.

Your design very much fits the brief and the hearts are a lovely touch. Glad that you are have found something to keep you connection with Defence going post your separation.

Hope you are well.

Regards,

 Hey Toni D,
You recently sent me a laundry bag. I recently got back from the Solomon Islands and am enjoying being back home with my girlfriend and our cat Ollie.
Thank you very much for the laundry bag, it looks awesome and I can’t wait to use it.

Good afternoon Margaret B,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for the wonderful laundry bag you gave me. It is such a beautifully thoughtful and crafted gift- I appreciate it immensely. It has already been put to good use and I will think of you every time I head to the laundry

You obviously put a lot of time, energy and effort into making it for me and it will remain a treasured gift.

Thanks for all you do, not only for me, but for all you support through Aussie Hero Quilts.

Kind regards,

...

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.

Tuesday's would be so totally boring without them!
