I just received your beautiful quilt and lovely message.
I am about half way through my deployment now and am enjoying it. The people are great and it's an interesting time to be in the Middle East and watching the draw down out of here. I have been keeping myself busy in my downtime by some cross stitch, just finally finished a project that my mum gave me last year.
I am very grateful for your generosity with all the time it takes to make a lovely quilt like mine.

I recently received an amazing laundry bag from you. I am currently deployed on OP Accordion, and located in the Middle East. The scenery is very bleak and the base facilities could definitely use some TLC. The laundry bag that you have created for me has made such a difference to the appearance of my room.
I think of it more like a piece of art than a laundry bag. I really appreciate the work you have put into the creation of my new art work and it will go everywhere with me for the rest of my working career.

My mum's family is in New Zealand, so hopefully the borders open when I get home and I can see them too. And yes, I agree, Spring is a much nicer temperature especially over there!

The fabric is amazing, and exactly what I was chasing. I can only imagine my boys will be very jealous once I show them during our next video call. I half expect them to ask me to send it home for them to use before I even get a chance too. I'll have to graciously decline their request.
My room is very 'white' right now and in much need of the colour. This will look amazing on my bed.

Good Afternoon Ellen,
This week I had the honour of opening the box you sent to find the quilt you so lovingly made for me. I absolutely love it and especially love that you went to the trouble of putting my name and PMKeys on it.
It has made it so much more special to me. I opened it in front of my team and they were extremely jealous of it and the effort you had put in. All the small details of it are just amazing.
I am currently deployed in the Middle East as part of the Air Movements team. We are responsible for the building, manifesting and loading/unloading of all the cargo and passengers on aircraft that move about on all the operations over here.
Weekly we move many people and 100's tonnes of cargo including mail, care packages, food and all the items people require to do the jobs they need to do. This is all moved via a C-130 based in the Middle East and once a month for a few days we also get a C-17 from Queensland that can move more amounts and bigger items like vehicles.
Back home I have a wife and three children (10,8 and 5). I have been in the RAAF for 7 years and am really enjoying my first deployment. We spent 6 years posted to Queensland but I am currently posted to South Australia where we originally grew up.
We are well and truly into Summer where I am and the days will hit the tops of over 40 degrees everyday until I head home. I will most likely experience a few days above 50 too (a big contrast to South Australia where they are hitting Winter and having tops of 18 degrees).
I am due home in a few month - everything seems a lot easier once you pass the halfway mark over here.
Thank you so much again, for doing what you do for deployed members. The quilts people get are certainly talked about a lot and shown to others with us.

I received the Aussie Hero Quilts that you made for me. It is just awesome. I did not expect it to be so nice. I am very thankful and would like to compliment you for your awesome work.
I am a permanent RAAF member based in South Australia. I have been in the Air Force now for 15 years. This is my 3rd deployment and I feel I should have requested a quilt on my first one.
I am married and have 3 kids, 2 daughters aged 9 and 7, and an 18 month old boy. I showed them a picture and they just loved it. I am using it right now but I think they will try to take it off me when I reach home.
Thanks for the awesome quilt. I will cherish it for the rest of my life. I wish you and your family a happy and health life.

I just wanted to touch base and let you know my quilt arrived last week.
It is amazing and I am so grateful to the ladies who combined to make it. It will be a memory holder for many, many years to come that will evoke stories of my time here in the Middle East.

Thank you so much for going out of your way to make me a fabulous laundry bag. It most definitely meets the brief!
I have been in the Navy for 3 years now, and been serving on HMAS Melville for two of those years. I am a chef and it is such a rewarding career that I have and I wouldn't change it for the world. I have been fortunate enough to travel a couple of countries so far with the Navy and cannot wait to experience more of the world.
When I first joined the Navy, I posted over to Western Australia and was working with HMAS Stirling for 6 months before getting posted to Queensland. I love WA and would love to post back there one day. I lived in QLD for 8 years before I enlisted. Loved it there as well.
I am originally from Tasmania, and miss home so much. We recently did a trip there, and it was so nice to be back near home for a short amount of time.

First of all I would like to say thank you so much for the dhobey bag you have made me. I absolutely love it. Everyone else in my cabin is jealous they didn't request a tye dye one because I'll tell you right now it really brightens up the place a hell of a lot and it is nice to look at something colourful for a change instead of boring Navy warship grey!
I was lucky enough to travel overseas at the start of 2020 to visit my twin sister overseas as she was living in US at the time.
If and when I do leave the Navy, I would love to take part in Aussie Heroes but I can't sew to save my life haha! Before I decided to join the Navy at 20, I studied Nursing for a year at University. I absolutely loved it but it was a stressful time in my life, and I decided it wasn't right for me. After I dropped out of Nursing, I decided to switch over and study social work as I still wanted to do a profession where I could help people. I studied that for a year before I decided to join the Navy. I have always chopped and changed doing different things as so many things interest me. One day while I was at University I decided to apply for the Defence Force and here I am now!
I'm so glad I decided to join when I did and the position I selected. I'm currently a Hydrographer Systems Operator based in Queensland and absolutely love it. I collect data and information about the ocean which then in turns gets turned into nautical charts. It is very random job and keeps me on my toes. At this moment in time, I'm serving on HMAS Melville and have been since 2018. It is a relatively small crew which I think is great because I know everyone pretty well and they are like a second family to me. While I have been posted here I have been lucky enough to go to Asia and Pacific. Not bad at the age of 23 and getting to travel to so many different places in the world.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experience my job has given me.
Again, I would really like to thank you for making this laundry bag for me. These acts of kindness are really appreciated and definitely brighten our day!

Thank you for the beautiful Summer in Australia bag you made. I absolutely love the bright colours and cute lettering. Thanks for your thoughtfulness, generosity and also for your prayers, its greatly appreciated.
I'm currently on HMAS Ballarat, recently promoted to the rank of Petty Officer, and fulfilling my dream job as an Aircrewman. I fly back in the Seahawk helicopter and my job is to monitor radar, sonar and various other sensors. We do utility operations using the winch and a cargo hook for vertical replenishment at sea, we can shoot machine guns from the back and should it ever be required I can jump into the ocean and act as a rescue swimmer/wireman,
Before I left on this deployment, my partner asked me to marry him! He also served in the Navy, but he has chased his goal of becoming an Aviation Firefighter, and has been doing that for the past 3 years. We live in NSW, and when I return from this trip we get to move into our brand new home we brought together.
The hardest part about deploying for is the time spent away from family and friends, and the generosity we receive from people like you in the forms of laundry bags, quilts and care packages is greatly appreciated and really helps our morale on long trips like this where we are unable to step ashore (due to COVID). So thank you!

I just wanted to drop you a quick note of thanks on behalf of my wife and myself for the laundry bag and letter she received recently.
My wife is an ADF member, currently posted to Queensland, however she is presently in NSW for a few months on Operation COVID Assist. We hadn't seen each other for a few months (I am still located in Northern Territory for work), so when I got the opportunity to fly down last week and pay a visit I did. Of all the things she had been excited about over recent months, I have to say, she loved her laundry bag the most! So much so that she asked me to write to you and say so, and it's a pleasure for me to do so.
Being married to an ADF member can be challenging, I know this better than most as I am an ex-ADF member myself (8 years RAN). Often, it's the little things that make the difference and can help them (and us) smile through another tough day.
Anyway, keep up the great work and on behalf of my wife and I, thank you for your support during such a challenging time.
