Weekly Despatches for Australia Day 26th January 2018

Hi to Everyone on Australia Day 2018!

I hope that wherever you are in Australia or deployed overseas that you have managed to celebrate Australia Day in a manner that is befitting. The methods of celebration are varied and include having a beer, sausages, prawn or lamb on a BBQ, going to the beach or park (or wherever there is water to swim), dressing in green and gold colours, waving the Aussie Flag and singing Waltzing Matilda. Our son was on HMAS Arunta at this time last year and the crew managed to succeed at all of these tasks on the flight deck of the ship. There was a blow up swimming pool, great Aussie grub for all thanks to the Navy chefs, a beer for everyone, and plenty of green and gold being worn by the crew. It just goes to show that you don't have to be in Australia to appreciate Australia Day.

So far for 2018 we have sent off 96 quilts
