Reading Room Quilts - a quick update from Al Minhad Air Base.....

A quick update from the Chaplain in AMAB.....

The reading room at AMAB is finally up and running. The reading room provides a quiet and appropriate space for members to read bedtime books via Skype (either live or recorded) to loved ones back home. This project has been ongoing for some time and has been the combined efforts of many individuals.

Support for this project has been fantastic.

Aussie Hero Quilts provided the beautiful backdrop, the AMAB welfare committee provided funds for all of the items that make the space feel warm and comfortable, while books have started pouring in from Australia, and keep coming – thanks to RAAF Chaplains and their friends and families, Royal Australian Army Education Corps, and Ros from DCO in Queensland who has procured 100 books from a local library that is refurbishing!

Response has been terrific and many members are using the area already and we have not officially kicked off yet. If the project proves to be positive, and all of the books promised show up, perhaps we could look to duplicate the concept in other locations?

For now here are some pictures, and THANK YOU!

Well done all who were involved in making this awesome quilt!!!!  Job well done!!!

Till next time.... keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
