Weekly Dispatches 27 Jan 17

G'day everyone. I hope you all had a great day celebrating our beautiful country and all that the privilege of living here provides us, thanks to the service of many, including all our past and present defence members.  I had a great time, with a navy chaplain, a Kiwi sailor (who deployed with one of our own ships to the Middle East) and his father and brother.  Lamb chops, snags, salad with pavlova and my once a year tradition... home made lamingtons. Loved the friendly Kiwi V Aussie banter over the origin of the pavlova....

I was delighted to receive a facetime call from one of our deployed Heroes, Cath, who some of you will know if you attended our dinner last year.  It is snowing where she is, and freezing, but it did not dampen her Aussie Day Spirit! 

I know a few of you were sewing Aussie Hero Quilts on Australia Day too.  Personally I cannot think of a more patriotic activity for such a patriotic day. 

Lots of lovely quilts and laundry bags have headed off again this week.. enjoy the show. Perhaps grab that last lamington or piece of pav and sit back and enjoy checking them all out.

So far for 2017 we have sent off 286 laundry bags 

which brings us to a total of 13408 since we started...

and...

We have also sent 130 quilts 

bringing our total since we started to over 6785 quilts

Thanks muchly Denise! These are heading straight off to our rifle company in Butterworth Malaysia and I promise you, they will be very much appreciated!
