We received a beautiful hand written letter from the 11 year old daughter of a recipients family that had received a Fallen Warrior Quilt.

"Dear Jan-Maree,
My Family says a big thank you thank you to you and your helpers for the lovely quilt. I like it because it reminds me of my Dad and is very pretty.
Thanks once again,
Bye for now"

Dear Ruth S,

Thank you for the wonderful laundry bag you have made me. It will absolutely make it a lot easier to tell what laundry is mine and ensure I don't lose any clothes when people rotate the washing.

I was posted to South Australia from 2017 - 2019. I have fond memories of my time in South Australia. My wife and I used to enjoy driving along the coastline between Semaphore and McLaren Vale.

Thank you again for all the effort in making this laundry bag. The amount of time and effort people like you spend brightening the day of others is really appreciated,

Yours Sincerely,

***

Good afternoon Lyn R,

How are you? I have been waiting eagerly for my quilt and bag to arrive, thank you so much for it. I am ecstatic to receive it and in awe of what you have created. It is a masterpiece and I am very grateful for the time and effort that you have put into it. I will cherish it forever as a reminder of my service to the ADF but also the love and effort you put into this beautiful creation.

A little bit about me, I was born in South Africa and after our family migrated to Australia I completed my schooling in Sydney. Following secondary education, I completed a trade and worked in Sydney.

I am grateful to this great country for the life that I have, so to give back I enlisted into the Royal Australian Air Force. I re-mustered to become a Physical Training Instructor. At the same time, I was studying through the Defence Force Academy, UNSW and did a Master’s Degree. I have served on two deployments as well as deploying to many other countries around the world over my service.

I am married and I and have a daughter, who is 16, going on 26. I enjoy all sport and have represented Australia at a National level, and World level Championships where I won a gold medal. I have served for 26 years in the ADF. I plan to serve Australia until my retirement, which is not long from now.

My wife and I want to settle one day near the ocean and to spend our time travelling the world but also seeing Australia and Tasmania. I have been to Tasmania once, travelling to Hobart then Cradle Mountain. Tasmania is an absolutely stunning place. I still want to travel to Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park in the near future.

Once again, thank you for the quilt and laundry bag. I am very grateful to you for your hard work and the skill you put into this creation. I will put them to good use in my home and they will be a prize possession that I will one day pass down in my family in recognition of my service to the nation.

Kind regards and thoughts to you and your family,

Hello Greg Y,

I have received my wonderful quilt, which made my day last Friday. Janis K has done such a fabulous job.

I love my quilt!

Thank you,

Good Afternoon Heather B,

I’ve been meaning to write to you for a while now, but I’ve honestly struggled to find the right words. It’s rare that I’m speechless, yet opening the gift you made for me left me exactly that. Every detail was so carefully thought out—the quilt and laundry bag perfectly reflect who I am as a person, along with the values and things I hold closest to my heart. Watching my nieces and I open it together even brought my parents to tears.
I can’t express how thankful I am. I will cherish these pieces forever, and one day I hope to hand them down through my family. Please know I’m truly grateful for the time and effort you put into creating such a masterpiece.

Beyond that, I think you’d like to know that both of my nieces have been inspired to serve. Your work showed them that people genuinely value what we do in the Defence Force, and that sense of purpose means more than anything.
Once again, thank you, Heather.

With much love and gratitude,

G’day Pat G!

I wanted to let you know that I’ve received the laundry bag that you made and it is so much better than anything I could have imagined - I really wanted to thank you for how well you interpreted my request and for the excellent design you came up with! I hope this one didn’t make you feel too anxious because it is truly great!

My deployment’s had me moving around like you wouldn’t believe! The laundry bag initially arrived to the base I was at just after I had moved elsewhere, but I was very fortunate that one of my colleagues was heading out my way and was able to bring the bag over and make sure it got to me safely!

Both of my parents were in the Army when I was growing up and we spent a lot of time living in Canberra when I was younger, so I know exactly what you’re talking about when you mention the satellite dishes and radio telescopes at Tidbinbilla! I think it’s incredible that you’ve drawn on those for I inspiration.

I really want you to know that getting this bag and your letter have truly been a highlight of my deployment and I cannot thank you enough for the time you spent on this and for the final result. I hope that you, your hubby and your sons are well. Thank you for what you do - I’m sure there are many other people like me that are thrilled with the time you spent making something for them over the 5 years you’ve been “quilting”!

Warmest Regards,

***

Hi Jan-Maree

I received the Quilt yesterday, what a great surprise, Karina and Philomena have produced a Quilt that has exceeded all my expectations.

This will be a centre point of my lounge room, proudly displayed over a couch or maybe a wall hanging.

Please pass on my best regards for a very professional and caring work to the ladies.

Very Best Regards

***
Cheers Catherine D

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.  Wednesdays would be so totally boring without them!
