Meeting a recipient is a very special occasion.

Please enjoy this recount from Sue-Ellen S as she recently had that very privilege!!!!

Thanks to Heather B and her daughter and son-in-law’s active involvement with Queensland Wheelchair AFL, I had the honour of meeting Steve, one of my quilt recipients on the weekend when I went along to the Grand Final of the Inaugural Premiership. Steve captained the Redcliffe Tigers, represented Australia at last year’s Invictus Games. In 2022, AHQ happily took on the task of making laundry bags for the Invictus Team prior to their departure, and to have quilts ready to present upon their return from The Hague.

Steve brought his quilt and laundry bag to the game on Sunday when he knew Heather B would be bringing me along and it was such a huge buzz to meet Steve and his lovely wife Elaine. What a coincidence that his quilt reflects his team's colours! It was my first game of AFL ever, let alone wheelchair AFL. It was awesome! What a fast, furious game and what feisty and fearless competitors! Unfortunately, the team lost to the Morningside Panthers but as well as the fierce competitiveness on display, so was the amazing sportsmanship.

Thanks Sue-Ellen S for sharing this!!!
