Happy Tuesday Friends!
...
Thank you to all the Aussie Hero Quilts (and Laundry Bags) Volunteers who have been working with so much care, energy and creativity on the laundry bags for our crew on HMAS Anzac. They have started to arrive and the team are loving them. You should be hearing from your individual members soon. I’ll also take some crew photos for you all with our respective creations over the coming weeks and send these through to Jan-Maree.
Special shout-out to Susan P who made this extraordinary design for me which has really brightened up my life aboard.
Many blessings to you all.
Good Afternoon Bridget R,
I wanted to write to you and say that I received my Laundry Bag in the mail earlier this week. Please let me say thank you, it’s great and I love the personalisation you gave it.
The bag captures everything I was imagining and my family even said it’s clearly mine, they had no idea it was coming. My grandparents are currently over visiting and they loved it, along with the idea of Aussie Hero Quilts. My grandmother loves sewing and quilting so I may have inadvertently recruited a new quilter, so long as we can keep her from her garden.
It was lovely to read about your family. Please wish them all well and all the best moving forward. Though I am home now in Australia I’m still playing catch up with everything I missed while away. My wife and I have two children together whom are 7 and 9 years, and she has two children from a previous marriage who are 19 and 21. My eldest daughter has moved out already working hospitality and planning a move to Victoria, and we are working on my Son once we find him stable employment. My youngest two are just happy to have Dad home.
We also have a few pets at home, I own an Eclectus parrot, you may recognise her from the laundry bag, and my wife convinced me to buy a puppy (chocolate lab) and a rescue kitten shortly before I deployed. I believe I lost my breath trying to convince her of the workload she would have while I was away, but like any good compromise we ended up with a new puppy and kitten.
Thank you once again for your time and effort with the Laundry bag. It will travel with me on any future deployment I have. My best wishes to you and yours and all the Aussie Hero Quilter out there.
Regards
Thank you once again and thank you Lynn R.
Susan J,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the amazing quilt I have just received in our ships mail. It is truly fantastic and I really do appreciate the effort that has been put in to it – so many skills beyond my capability! I love the wrecks and reefs. I have attached an image of the quilt safely in custody while standing on our Flight Deck.
HMAS Canberra is now on the way home after completing our 3-month deployment and we just have a couple of tasks to achieve down the NSW coast before we head home. We are due to arrive in Sydney on Father’s Day which will be nice for a lot of our crew, especially as we will have about 570 family and friends waiting for us.
Once again, thank you for the time and effort you have given in making such a fantastic gift – I will treasure it.
All the very best,
...
Good evening Pam
Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.
