We have a new Website.... and a message from the Chairman of our Board.

Greetings all,

Firstly some very exciting news! We finally have a website!!

It is fabulous and I think you will find it is easy to navigate around and has most of the information that is included in the blog and then some.  It is a result of the hard work of one of our newer Admin Volunteers, Greg, so please leave him a a huge thank you in the comments. 

Secondly, we have a message from the Chairman of our Board.

RECOGNISED CHARITY STATUS

 Dear Volunteers,

 Thank you for supporting AHQ’s so consistently and effectively over the past 10 years. As an organisation we have grown in output, reputation and governance.

In 2020 we achieved, from the Australian Tax Office, recognition as a charity and this has helped us remain compliant with book keeping and financial reporting.

As part of this journey we have also applied for approval to become a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) where donations to AHQ could be recorded as Tax Deductible to the group or individual making the donation. Unfortunately there are strict guidelines around achieving DGR status and as AHQ’s mission serves such a broad audience and recipient demographic, we do not fit into one of the established categories. We will continue to engage with the ATO and find a proper path to DGR status but currently and sadly this is not possible at the moment without compromising our mission.

I know some of you are very keen to be able to claim some of your Aussie Hero associated expenses on your tax return but at this stage it is not possible as Leo has stated.  Should we be able to achieve DGR Status we will certainly let you all know.
