Block of the Month - June 2016

Block of the Month - June 2016

This modern quilt block makes a stunning quilt...see the picture at the end of the tutorial.
It's an easy block to make as there are no triangles, just squares and rectangles.

I find the cold weather a great time to get in and sew a few blocks...sipping coffee...munching chocolate.  Some people like to listen to music but I prefer to sew while enjoying the quiet.  Whatever works for you, enjoy making these blocks and a HUGE THANK YOU to you.

After making the block, please don't trim off any fabric as extra fabric has been allowed so that all blocks can be trimmed to the same size before being joined to make a quilt top.  Uneven or raggedy edges don't matter ;-)

This is the block used in the following directions, however, the following block is the correct colours for you to make this month

The colours for this month are ROYAL BLUE, RED and YELLOW.
Yes, that is a little different to the pictures and I do apologise for this.
Please use...
ROYAL BLUE where I have used BLACK in the pictures
and YELLOW where I have used GOLDEN YELLOW in the pictures
The fabrics can be Bali Batiks, tone-on-tone prints or other printed designs with small amounts of other colours.
The royal blue "shadow" could be a plain or patterned royal blue fabric.
I hope you enjoy making this block.
