I know a number of you were very disappointed to know that the ANZAC Centenary Quilt that we made last year was not initially going to go on display in the War Memorial. We were delighted when the War Memorial decided to display it for a few months from September last year til the end of February this year and I know that many of you made the effort to go and see it.
Well I have great news!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE
I have been advised that the Centenary Quilt will by included in the Spirit of ANZAC Centenary Experience (SACE) which is the flagship community event of the Australian Government's ANZAC Centenary national programme. The SACE has travelled Australia since September 2015 and will finish in Sydney in April 2017.
The Quilt will be displayed in the fini frame as per the arrangement during its display in the Memorial's galleries. It will be included in the Tour from Toowoomba from the 17th to the 23rd of May. It will be installed at each event depending on the layout of the exhibition within the venue.
Further information on the Spirit of ANZAC Centenary
Experience can be found on the website: http://www.spiritofanzac.gov.au/.
A
listing of the tour can also be found on the site: http://www.spiritofanzac.gov.au/plan-your-experience.
The SACE has already been to parts of the country but the locations it is yet to visit include....
Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Port Augusta, Geelong, Sydney, Newcastle, Orange and Darwin.
That might not be all around the country but it certainly increases the opportunity for many of you to go and see it.
Go online, check out the locations and make your bookings to go and see it.... oh and the rest of the SACE!
Til next time.....................keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
