Greetings all.
Every now and then I call for blocks for a Mystery Quilt. These quilts give people a chance to take part in Aussie Heroes and in a specific quilt, without having to complete a whole quilt.
One of the ones that we completed recently was a really pretty Pink and White Star quilt. I can finally reveal it in all its glory as it has been received. The recipient sent a quick Facebook message to me to let me know that she had received it but was planning to write a proper thank you when she gets time. In the mean time she sent in a picture of it on her bed and she said "Showed off my quilt and the feedback was mostly "the nicest one I've seen yet!" I mean they are all special but they were very impressed with mine as was I."
I am still waiting for our Elephant Quilt, the Shark Quilt and the special quilt for Our Deployed Quilter to be received before I can show you pictures of what we collectively made for them.
We have another Mystery Quilt underway and usually I don't post pictures of the Mystery Quilt Blocks in case the recipient sees them. In this case however this fellow will not be receiving his quilt until he comes home as there is not enough time to get it made and get it over there without me putting myself or others under pressure. He was quite happy to wait till he comes home so I said I would share the blocks on the blog and he can enjoy seeing them coming in. What he won't see, however is the final layout or any pictures of the blocks all together on the design wall. All of you quilters know that it is very hard to visualize the end result until it goes up on the design wall etc. I have to keep some surprises up my sleeve.
There are still more blocks to come in but this is what we have so far.

I could probably manage one more Mystery Quilt between now and Christmas if people are keen. Let me know what you think.
Till next time...................keep spreading the word and happy stitching! JMxx
I love a mystery block! (my sewing block skills are not the best and it take me a couple of tries before I get the right one!) but love the chance to be part of a quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love making blocks - I get frustrated trying to make lots the same so a one-off is just right for me. The pink quilt looks wonderful serving it's purpose which is to brighten up the dull surrounds. My H block is sitting beside me - we took it on a long drive and to a birthday picnic by the river today - then it came back home with us ... because I forgot to post it..... sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to do another mystery block before christmas JM
