Grati-Tuesday 1st April 2025

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Happy April Fools Day!

Look out for the bible passage a recipient has quoted that perfectly describes every AHQ volunteer!

We have a lovely lot of messages and photos so grab a cuppa or cool drink, sit back and relax while you soak up some well-deserved gratitude!

Good Morning Anne Hnr (afternoon now, I started this email 3 hours ago, but have been dragged away with work,

Firstly, my apologies for the slow sending of my appreciation and great joy of receiving my Invictus Games laundry bag! Wow! What a wonderful surprise and such lovely work.

I loved the incorporation of Coach and the snow flake fabric on the inside, this gave me a sentimental connection to the bag straight away. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of each of the pieces incorporated into bag.

Canada was the first Invictus games to have snowsports and possibly the last. It’s difficult to find a venue that can host a large contingent or athletes and supporters while being close to snow and ice.  There won’t be any snowsports at the next games in Birmingham in 2027. Having said that, it was a wonderful experience, and I believe everyone got to take away something of an achievement through their participation.

All the Australian snowsports competitors had a great time on the snow, with some getting the full bug and wanting to take up the sport more consistently going forward. The snowboard ladies came home with 2 medals, one gold and one bronze and were thoroughly excited and proud with the outcome. I was proud of all of them, especially the beginner team. They tried so hard and progressed so much in just the three short days. I would love to be a part of something like this again.

For me now, I play more disc golf than I ski these days. Disc golf is like regular golf, but with Frisbees. I also travel a lot with this disc golf, but demands at work limit that too.  I’m full time with Air Force still, in a Personnel Capability role (HR) at RAAF Base Sale. I help oversee the personnel and training staff and HR requirements for the organisation here. As you may be able to imagine, training organisations produce a lot of personnel demands. I enjoy my job, but don’t have a lot of mental capacity for much outside of work hours. This makes completing my Bachelor of Psychological studies somewhat of a challenge, but I love the learning process.

Thank you and to all who volunteer for AHQ, you have made my Invictus Games experience a little richer and given me something that I will always cherish (to go along with the good memories).

All the best to you, your family. Thank you for your efforts, and service to those who serve! I take my hat off to you.

Kindest regards,

Dear Ruth S,

I am very grateful for the laundry bag and the love that you have sown in every stitch!! As a Christian I am so aware of the background of the name Ruth, in fact my oldest sister has that name!  She is also a blessing in my life.

Your kind act reminds me of Philippians 2:3-4 which says, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Blessings

Hi Sue B,

I have received the laundry bag you made for me and I really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to make this game of thrones themed bag. I absolutely love the dragon and the quotes around the border.

Thankyou,

Good afternoon Ruth S,

I would like to send my upmost gratitude to you for making my laundry bag.

After 15 years of service I still believe it is one of the most cherished things people can receive whilst deployed from someone that not only doesn’t know the member but does it out of the kindness of their heart.

You should be proud with the work you do to keep people like myself happy whilst spending so much time away from home.

Many Thanks

Good Afternoon Bel P,

Apologies that this has taken so long for a response, but firstly, thank you, thank you, thank you :) My son loved his Laundry Bag, and we did get to use it on our recent cruise, to put all the washing in :)

Good evening Colleen S,

I am emailing you to say thank you for making me my quilt.

I just received it yesterday and I really like the design you did a good job.

About me I am just 19 years old born and raised in Sydney and have been in the Navy for just over two years now.

Currently I am in week 1 of my second deployment so emotions are a bit high having just left home again.

I was very interested reading about where you have travelled to. It seems you have had some good opportunities to see the world.

I myself am travelling to Europe and Scandinavia for 7 weeks at the end of the year for a much needed holiday after these big deployments.

Thank you for the work that you are doing with Aussie quilts it means a lot too all of us.

G'day Bobbie S and the Mystery BOMers!

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you so very much for the incredible quilt.

I apologise for not sending this sooner, please rest assured that the quilt has been with me for some time now and has certainly kept me warm on the cold nights of late.

I hope this finds you in good spirits and good health, and again, my sincerest of thanks.

Kind Regards,

Good Afternoon Bobbie S and Mystery BOMers,

Today I received the beautiful quilt you and the team have put together for me! It is incredible work and I couldn't be more appreciative of your efforts in bringing it together. It will hold a place of pride in the house when I get back to Sydney in a little over a months time.

Myself and the those in my team are extremely grateful for the quilts and laundry bags we have received. It is a wonderful memento of our time here and also a token of appreciation from yourselves that we do not take lightly. We have had a professionally rewarding time, however missing summer back home is not lost on a lot of members. We thank you for your work and kind words in respect and gratitude of this.

Thanks again for the time you and the team have taken to reach out and make these items! It is greatly appreciated and will be remembered for a long time.

Kind Regards,

***

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.  Tuesdays would be so totally boring without them!

Cheers Bel P
