First and foremost... a huge thanks goes out to all those people involved in the fight against these awful fires, our RFS, CFA, SES, and all the first responders and volunteers. We are so grateful for your bravery and assistance.
I have been sharing as much as I can on our Facebook page so that people are aware of the massive involvement of our Australian Defence Force in the fight against this bushfire.
I have had lots of feedback that people are grateful for the updates as they are not seeing as much information about what our ADF has been doing in many other place. The information is out there but I guess, until HMAS Choules, HMAS Adelaide, MV Sycamore deployed and the PM announced the call out for 3000 Reservists, not much of the efforts of our ADF was making it into the news.
If you want to be kept up to date with what our ADF is doing then consider following some of the ADF Social Media pages. They are invaluable for not only being aware of what our guys and girls are doing, you can also leave comments of support and encouragement for them which will be much appreciated. Not only that, you can share their posts to share the news of what they are doing.
Our ADF public affairs teams work so very hard to document and photograph what everyone is up to and the information is there but it needs to be shared widely at times like this to inform the general public. You can help.
And... I know that some of you are not on Facebook and that is okay, but times likes this I find it invaluable for picking up bits and pieces of information that are helpful. I would not want to NOT have Facebook as a resource for keeping informed, about the local environment, about my friends, and about what those we serve are doing.
Yes, I know that Facebook can be a problem but if used well it is a huge resource and at times a great comfort. You don't have to be active on it to access the information. You can set up a profile just so that you can follow what is happening out there. Just saying... If you don't like Facebook and don't want to join it that is fine, but please don't bother emailing me about it in response to this post. This is just my opinion and you are more than welcome to your own.
Below are a few of the photos that have been shared on Facebook. I won't be sharing lots of these on other posts as it takes time to source them, save them and upload them and you can access them easily on the Facebook pages listed below.
And whilst you are at it, you might like to follow the Australian Defence Force in the Middle East page.
Till next time... Keep spreading the word. I always say that and usually I mean to keep spreading the word about Aussie Heroes but this time I also mean keep spreading the word about the amazing work our ADF members are doing.
And if you can, keep stitching!
Love Jan-Maree xx
