Happy Tuesday Friends!

We have some great messages and photos today, so grab a cuppa, sit back and relax while you soak up some well deserved gratitude.

Only 3 sleeps until the Thank You dinner.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Bev F,

I would like to thank you for the quilt that you made for my friend.

I nominated him to receive a quilt a couple of months ago, and you made this wonderful quilt for him. He is a “young” veteran (my daughter’s best friend’s fiancé) who discharged from the Army as a result of both physical and mental conditions from his active service in Afghanistan. Having been a fit and active soldier, as you can imagine, it is difficult to adjust to life outside of the Army.

With the sneaky assistance of his fiancé, what you have made for him is nothing short of perfect! I was able to present the quilt to him on Sunday just gone. He was very curious as to my visit but when he saw the quilt his eyes lit up and he immediately looked at the detail of the blocks - he loves the Bronco’s, 4 x 4’s, fishing, read out his PM keys and remarked on how great the colours were, including the backing.
He then sat with it whilst we had morning tea, thinking he might hang it on his lounge wall. (If he would like to do this I will put a hanging sleeve on it for him).

Later in the afternoon, I received a text from his fiancé saying “I think he likes it!!”, with an attached photo of him asleep on the lounge, wrapped up in his quilt!

Well done and Thank you Bev!

Cheers Heather B

Hi Bel P,

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to reach out and let you know that I’ve received the amazing laundry bag you made for me, and I absolutely love it! The detail you’ve put into it, especially the platypus on the back, is wonderful. It’s funny, really – I’ve always loved platypus, and during some shore leave in Cairns, I actually went looking for them but had no luck finding any. So, having one on the laundry bag feels like it was meant to be!

Thank you also for sharing your story with me. I am only about 20 minutes from where you work and live! It’s such a small world. I have lived around the area for the last seven years having moved from Sydney for work.

I’m in the Army Reserves as a Cavalry Scout, I didn’t want to go full-time because I love where I live so much and didn’t want to move away. My day job is as a Dive Master, which lets me stay close to the water and the home I love. The laundry bag is great, as it will now feel like I have a little piece of home with me!

I joined the Reserves at the end of 2022, and everything so far has been new and exciting! This operation is just the beginning of what I hope to achieve in my Army career. But I am also excited to go to my new house and turn it into a home with my partner.

My partner was in the Navy for 12 years as a stoker and even served on HMAS Tobruk before it was decommissioned. We recently took a trip to Hervey Bay to dive the wreck, and it was an incredible experience, especially with the ship lying on its side – it made for a very unique dive.

Thank you again for the beautiful laundry bag and for your kindness. It means so much to me, and I’ll treasure it always!

Warm Regards,

...

Good evening Jan-Maree,

I would like to firstly thank you and your team with their outstanding effort in making these Laundry Bags, which are amazing by the way. I have been in service for 14 years and have received your laundry bags and quilts over my overseas deployments. Over the years the opportunity we get to receive these isn’t always there as we aren’t always deployed. But to the beautiful human who made the laundry bag with cat’s on the front which I received today on HMAS Adelaide, thank you for your hard work and unbelievably creative effort I absolutely love it!

Thank you for everything you do as a volunteer and it is always welcomed and understood the effort that yourself and your team go to. I hope everyone stays healthy and thank you immensely!

Thank you,

 ...

Dear Sonia J,

I am the Navigating Officer on HMAS Adelaide. I am a New Zealand Naval Officer conducting an exchange in Australia and have been blessed with the opportunity to not only have the experience of serving as the Navigator of the largest warship in the southern hemisphere but also to serve with some of the most wonderful people I have ever met.

Recently we were able to collect one of the amazing laundry bags so kindly made for us. There weren’t quite enough of them to go around and by the time I got there they were all gone.

One of the crew members happens to be one of the kindest people onboard. She, without question offered her laundry bag to me and would not allow me to decline her very kind offer.

Sonia, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to create such a unique and vibrant laundry bag. I feel honoured to have it and love the cool design and unique pattern. My kids will love the taco dinosaurs. I also wanted to tell you of the very kind act it was part of.

To my crew mate, I wanted show my gratitude and ensure that Sonia was aware of your kind act. You are always such a pleasure to work with, a naturally pleasant, friendly and super professional person who always puts her shipmates first.

Thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

Good morning Ellen N,

I am wishing to express a massive thank you not only for taking the time to create such a beautiful blanket for me but also the care you took in selecting the pattern and material.

I have been in the Navy for nearly 10 years now and currently serve as the senior healthcare practitioner for HMAS Arunta, as a Petty Officer Medical Sailor. I love the job, the people and the challenge it presents to me everyday. It's allowed me to see around 15 countries as well as some of the most unique parts of our country.

Thank you so very much. Have a lovely weekend.

I have attached a photo of my bed with your creation.

With kind regards,

Good morning Noelene W,

I am wishing to express a massive thank you not only for taking the time to create such a beautiful laundry bag for me but also the care you took in selecting the material.

I actually grew up in Queensland and my brother lives on the Gold Coast, so the thought of the bag and its origin is very close to home.

Thank you so very much. Have a lovely weekend.

I have attached a photo of my sickbay.

With kind regards,

Until next week keep your letters, emails and photos coming in.

Tuesday's would be so totally boring without them!
