The History of Remembrance Day......

This coming Sunday is the Centenary of Armistice Day... the very first Remembrance Day. RSL New South Wales has a terrific article on their website explaining the history behind the day and I would ask every one of you to read it and share it....

Whether you go to a service or acknowledge the day in your own quiet way, I think everyone in this country should spend a little time on Sunday, thinking about those who gave their lives so that we may live the free life we have today.... and also those who have served in the past,  those whose service has cost them in the many ways we know it can, and those who serve today.

You can check out RSL New South Wales History of Remembrance Day page here

If you are in Canberra, get along to the War Memorial and check out the 62000 handmade poppies planted outside the Australian War Memorial... of the 302000 Australians who served overseas during World War I, 62000 we killed.  Consider that when you enjoy the solemn beauty of the poppies.

Always remember, Freedom Isn't Free

Lest We Forget.
