Lots of lovely messages!

Oh boy!  You are going to enjoy this post.
Sit back, relax and read some of the lovely messages that have come in over the weekend.

First up here is a lovely thank you message that Maria received for her first Aussie Hero Quilt.

Thank you for the quilt and laundry bad, they are much appreciated and will certainly come in handy during my deployment.  I also have 2 children, I have a 3 year old daughter  and a 4 month old son. I am missing them a lot.  My fiance and I are getting married next year after I get home from Afghanistan.  We have been very busy over here, I am a vehicle mechanic and prominently work on our Armored vehicle fleet. I am also a driver of an ASLAV which is one of our armored vehicles.
Thanks again for you kind gifts

Now recently I was told that there were too many military abbreviations on the blog and you civvie types didn't understand them - sorry about that - so I am going to try and be more conscious of that in the future and explain more and also (eventually) set up a Glossary of Terms!

With that in mind - here is an ASLAV - an Australian Light Armoured Vehicle.
It is an Australian version of the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV-25) designed and manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada for the US Marines. It is a highly mobile, eight wheeled amphibious armoured vehicle used for reconnaissance and surveillance operations.

Earlier this year Tracey sent off this gorgeous dog lovers quilt in a care package.

I hope you can read this, I was not going to re-type it!

Now, please don't send me a bunch of emails asking if you can make quilts for the dogs and their handlers in Afghanistan - I am working on it but it is slow going.  I will let you know when I hear something.

When I went to Canberra, and specifically to the Duntroon Community Centre, one of the lovely ladies that I met was Rachael.  Her hubby has been deployed to Afghanistan and since he has been gone she has been using her time well.  In addition to looking after their two cute little boys she has been learning to quilt.  First she made quilts for her sons and then she tackled a quilt for her hubby.   Well now it has arrived and she has sent me some pics and a message.

Just a quick note to let you know that XXXXX's  quilt that I made for him arrived safe and sound yesterday!!

As promised here are a couple of photos for you!

(Those are the children's hand prints down the bottom there!)

Thankyou so much! Without Aussie Hero Quilts I would never have even done this in the first place and he just loves it so much!!!  Have a fabulous night!

Caroline's received a thank you for this gorgeous quilt as well.

Upon arrival at work today there was a comfort pack containg the beuatiful quilt and goodies in which you have kindly made up and sent over. It was a great surprise to me to receive this; receiving mail from Australia lifts the spirits of everyone within a workplace and makes us feel honoured to represent Australia.
Thank you very much for your kind generosity and keeping up the tradition of sending comfort packages to those who are deployed

I got a lovely surprise this morning when I checked the facebook page.
Another picture of a happy customer!

Thank you sooo much for the beautiful quilt! It means a great deal to us that you have taken the time to create something so precious. I will definitely use it when I return home. Keep up the lovely work! xx

Can you tell that this is one of our BOM quilts?

I also thought you would like to see the last few messages from the lucky members of Club 25 of HMAS ANZAC.

I have been one of the lucky 25 members from Hmas Anzac to recieve one of your fabulous quilts. I thankyou very much for this heartfelt gesture and I want to assure you that it means alot to know that folks back in Australia care enough about our servicemen and women deployed overseas, to take the time to make such fantastic quilts.  Once again to all the ladies and their husbands, thankyou for taking the time to make these wonderful tributes to our deployed members.  My humblest thanks and my prayers go to you and your families.

I am one of the lucky 25 to have my name down for a quilt.   If it is possible I would also like a laundry bag.  Thank you very much for the privilege to receive a quilt.

I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the 25 to receive a quilt.  I just wanted to thank you and everyone else involved for the generous offer.  We definitely appreciate it on board and I am a quilt lover so I am happy to add to my collection :D   If it's not too much trouble could I also request a laundry bag.   Thank you again and have a good week :)

:-)

OK!  I am trying to remember to remind you earlier from now on - please don't forget to send me a picture of any quilts and laundry bags you are sending off this week and also send the confirmatory email so that I know you have actually made it to the post office.  Any photos that arrive on Friday SHOULD make it on to the blog....as long as I have time and my life doesn't get in the way!  LOL

Finally, if you are not one of our facebook followers you may not know there is a sale coming up there starting Wednesday.  Need some batting?  If so- make sure you check out tomorrow night's post as Caroline and Liz have great tips to share re saving money! and getting the most value out of your batting!

Till next time....................keep spreading the word and happy stitching!
