This blog is dedicated to encouraging people to make quilts and laundry bags to send to Aussie service men and women currently serving overseas and to express our gratitude for their service. We care about the people - not the politics or the mission.
Our quilts are not works of art, but works of the heart.
Before anything else let me remind you that the next AHQ Sydney Sewing Day is the day after tomorrow, Wednesday 18th. We will kick off at 10am and go till we have had enough, anywhere from 1 till 3pm.
BYO lunch and a small plate for morning and afternoon tea. Sewing machine is optional. This week we will be layering some quilts and then......da da dum! We will be working on the special little girly quilt!!!
More blocks came in today from Sue S
as well as some from Nadine.
See this pile? I was going to arrange them on the design wall but I decided that would spoil the surprise so this is all you see till after Wednesday!
Sue also sent a long a huge bag of threads and a bunch of machine needles as well as some great plaids - thanks so much Sue!
I also received a bundle of wonderful fabrics from Marg Waters including a bunch of 6 1/2" strips and big enough pieces for laundry bags. Marg was given these by the Textile Traders near where she lives. Thans Marg and Textile Traders.
As well as snail mail I received emails as well!
Three great laundry bags from another follower who prefers to remain anonymous
Another great quilt from Wendy L
Three great quilts from Judith
I have finished updating the Gallery of Quilts and a separate Gallery of Laundry Bags. When you have time, please check it and see if you can find yours. They are not shown in order of completion, rather in the order they are filed on my computer. I usually file quilts under the first name and sometimes first initial of the surname of the person who made the quilt top. If any of yours are missing, please let me know so I can add them.
Now, a warning! The teens are on holidays and although we have 500GB - (yes, that is FIVE HUNDRED GIGABYTES!!!!!) they are using up our data at an alarming (but not surprising) rate again (AGAIN!). 420GB gone! Hopefully they will see sense and reign themselves in. BUT, just in case I don't post again for a while I will be back on the 25th of April when our data limit clicks over again----- here is hoping they see sense and slow down their usage because quite frankly a home with two teens on holidays and no internet DOES NOT BEAR THINKING ABOUT!
Till next time.................WISH ME LUCK and happy stitching!
